Singer / Front Person Wanted

Hot As A Pepper, a well established Greenville SC based variety dance band is looking to fill the spot of lead vocalist / front person.

We’re in search of the best and most versatile singer to fill this position – male or female.

The band covers songs from the 50s to current, across many genres, including Pop, Top 40, Rock, Disco, R&B, Funk, Carolina Beach and more. We also have a forth-coming CD of originals.
Artists we cover include Prince, Lady Gaga, Micheal Jackson, Bruno Mars, Rick James, Justin Timberlake, Maroon 5, Daft Punk, DNCE, Chairmen of the Board, Temptations, Earth Wind & Fire, Kool & The Gang, KC & The Sunshine Band, Alice in Chains, B52s, etc.

The band plays frequently at bars, clubs, private and corporate events and festivals, mostly around the Upstate, though we have slowly been leaving many of the local venues to focus more on events.

If you are interested in playing a minimum of 4 to 10 shows a month, mostly on the weekends, and want to work hard to be the best, with weekly rehearsals, then we want to hear from you!

Auditions will be held at our Simpsonville based studio.

All the cliche and typical requirements, wants and needs apply.

Professional appearance, attitude and gear.
Reliable transportation.
Know how to read a clock and can be on time to rehearsals and shows.
Have reasonable communication skills and check your email/text.
No vices that negatively affect your performance or relationships with venues or band members.

Versatile Vocalist Wanted – Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes

Hot As A Pepper has an immediate opening for a versatile vocalist!

We’re a dance and party band!!!!  Genres include Pop, Top 40, Dance Rock, Disco, Funk, Motown, R&B, Soul, Beach, and even some Jazz, Reggae or Country – what ever gets butts outta seats and on the dance floor.
We play bars, clubs, private / corporate events of all types and festivals.
We play A LOT. Mostly around the Upstate.

HAAP is in our 5th year, we have received awards and are always booked out months in advance.

Some young blood would be a welcome addition to this group!
If you play an instrument – you move to the front of the line!

Band Fun Greenville Hot As A Pepper John M. Hoyt Music Party Upstate

Selection of players continues for the fun & funky Upstate party band, Hot As A Pepper… Drummers and Guitarists are up this week!

The ad on Craigslist keeps bringing new people who are interested in joining up with a fun and funky Upstate band even though it is has been nearly a week since the original posting.

One thing is becoming super clear, there are more drummers than you can shake a stick at! And there are a lot of talented guitarists too, but only a few singers have come forward.

Guitarists who can sing lead are also either involved in other bands, or maybe not seeing the facebook or Craigslist posting.  If you are a guitarist who is a lead vocalist and you are wanting a job, then get with me please.

Talks continue with the next two drummers to check out and three guitarists. These 5 individuals are very interesting as they all have something outstanding about them. Several have played in successful bands, with somewhat similar styles.

IF you have contacted me and for some reason I have never contacted you back – chances are good that I missed your message, please try again. If you contacted me and we spoke but have not spoken again, let me assure you, everyone is getting put into a “database” and I will indeed get back with you at some point. The search is on for the best guitarists / vocalists in Greenville / Upstate!

Our ad on Craigslist has turned up a number of potential members!

We have had musicians from all around Greenville and the Upstate contacting us and checked out a few of them already but have a ways to go I believe.

I’m compiling a database of these musicians and here’s the summary so far:

  • Vocalists – 2 (Do not play instruments)
  • Guitarists – 7 (only 1 is a “lead” singer)
  • Drummers – 9 (one is a “lead” singer)
  • Keys – 3 (one is a “lead” singer)
  • Other – 11 (We’ve had sax, trumpet, flute, conga and harp players contact us!)
  • Bass – 2 (I could switch to rhythm guitar)

That list is in the order of what we need most….   So, if you are reading this, and you are a vocalist, preferably one who plays an instrument, then you are on my “most wanted” list!

If there is anyone who has emailed and I have *NOT* contacted you in someway, then please try to reach me another way, through facebook for instance (John M. Hoyt or Hot As A Pepper), in case something is being lost in email.

I promise to get back with each of you as quickly as I possibly can!

If you are not willing to commit to AT LEAST one rehearsal a week, and one weekend gig per month over the next six months and hopefully TWO weekend gigs per month with as many as FOUR over the next year, then this is likely not for you.
