This song was written specifically for this project (mostly). There was a much earlier, and very different version that CC reworked (extensively) and then sent to John and Shannon. The motivation for the song was to broaden the character and feel of the songs we were writing. At the time we had completed Walk Away, Move It, and Come Here.
Shannon penned most of the lyrics, and a back-and-forth between John and CC allowed it to really shine and breathe.
Lyrics:
Feels Like This
When the night gets me down
And I’ve been thinking
How long before I break
I look to you
And you remind me
Everything is gonna be okay
Honey what’s the matter
I’ve been missing all your laughter
So let me be your sanctuary
If we take your fears
And bury them
Oooo it’s nothing to worry about
It’s all gonna fade away
Hold me close and we’ll work it out
I promise we’ll laugh about it all some day
I never knew that love could feel like this
We’re out here dancing in the dark
Just want to lose myself in every kiss
I never knew that love be like this
Only love I need now
Give you all that I can give now
I’ll take your heart and protect it well
Pick you up right where you fell
Oooo it’s nothing to worry about
It’s all gonna fade away
Hold me close and we’ll work it out
Promise we’ll laugh about it all some day
I never knew that love could feel like this
We’re out here dancing in the dark
Just want to lose myself in every kiss
I never knew that love could feel like this
Oooooooo
And if we got each other
You know it’s meant to be
Oooooooo
You never have to wonder
What you mean to me
Oooo it’s nothing to worry about
It’s all gonna fade away
Hold me close and we’ll work it out
I promise we’ll laugh about it all some day
I never knew that love could feel like this
We’re out here dancing in the dark
Just want to lose myself in every kiss
I never knew that love could feel like this
I never knew
I never knew that love could feel like this
I never knew that love could feel like this
Just want to lose myself in every kiss
I never knew that love could feel like this
