“Walk Away,” written by Shannon Ferguson (aka “Rhea Deléo” on Spotify) in January 2020. The song blends moody rhythms with sharp, reflective lyrics, shedding light on the complexities and challenges of love. In addition to recording this song with her band, Hot As A Pepper, Shannon later released a solo version produced by Kaleb Alexander of Melodic Mess Studio.
Lyrics:
He said it takes passion but that’s
Just what I’m lacking with you
Don’t dress the way or move your hair
The way I’d want you to
I know you love me dear
The dedication’s sweet
But I can’t imagine ever having
Any kind of life with you
So would you just walk away and close the door
Would you just walk away and close the door
I said I got passion
There’s nothing I’m lackin’ with you
I’d never lie, or speak unkind
You know I’d never hurt you
I said The kind of love
You say you’d want with me
Sounds more like lust
And I’m sorry but, I want more than your body
I can’t just walk away and close the door
I can’t just walk away and close the door
Cause when your lips meet mine
There’s nothing behind it
Am I just a way to pass the time
Until you find
Until you find
The next love of your life
I would’ve given it all
Just to be by your side
But it’s never enough
You’re never satisfied
I would’ve given it all
Just to be by your side
But it’s never enough
You’re never satisfied
Oh, oh, I’ll let you go
-You’re never satisfied
Oh, oh, I’ll let you go
-You’re never satisfied
Cause when your lips meet mine
There’s nothing behind it
Am I just a way to pass the time
Until you find
Until you find
The next love of your life
